CRIN at the Venice Biennale

CRIN will be participating in this year’s Venice Biennale as part of the ARTIVISM exhibition, in collaboration with the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation.

CRIN is happy to announce that we will be participating in this year’s Venice Biennale as part of the ARTIVISM exhibition, in collaboration with the Auschwitz Institute for Peace and Reconciliation. The event will explore the creative responses of artists and artistically minded activists to the most precarious of situations: large-scale identity-based violence and mass atrocities.

More than merely showing the way others have used the arts to foment positive change, Artivism also provide concrete steps for visitors themselves to take action, highlighting their own power to play a role in mass atrocity prevention at home and around the world.

For that to happen we need to start by breaking things: our assumptions, our silence, our prejudice, our egos, our judgment. As Picasso said: “every act of creation is first an act of destruction.” Through our installation, CRIN wants to invite people to break with their habits and give them the freedom to participate, whether for a few minutes or days, to inventing this new world.

We don’t have all the answers and there aren’t any watertight strategies or plans that will solve all of the world’s children’s rights problems. However, we believe that with creative and critical thinking and a collective ‘open source’ movement of ideas we can find new solutions to try out.
