Resources for Campaigners

Understanding what the law says about environmental rights is an important starting point - but it’s not the only piece of the puzzle.

Once the reports are out, we want to use the legal research to start conversations with those individuals and groups who are at the forefront of fighting for children’s environmental justice. We want to hear from them what they might find useful in their fight for climate justice, and use the research to create resources which could include things like:

  • Advocacy tools to help activists push for laws that better protect children and the environment.

  • Tools and resources that explain children’s rights and environment-related laws and help youth climate activists understand their rights and how to hold governments accountable.

  • Case studies showcasing creative and innovative actions and initiatives taken by civil society, children and youth to fight for children’s environmental justice.

  • A global report that analyses children’s access to environmental justice and makes recommendations to improve children’s rights and environment-related laws and policies.

  • A list of research gaps that are holding back advocacy on this issue.

But these are just ideas. Each national context is different, and the environmental struggles of different communities within one country can differ too. We do not want to make assumptions about what might be useful. We want to hear from lawyers, organisers and activists (both young and old) from around the world about what they need and how we can help.
