About
‘Born Polluted’ is an exhibition created by the Child Rights International Network, with artwork by illustrator Miriam Sugranyes and poetry by Alyson Kissner. The exhibition was launched in the European Parliament in Brussels in early March 2026.
'Born Polluted' follows the story of the Child and the Crow across ten panels, incorporating details of current EU chemicals regulations and policies. Our aim was to raise awareness about chemicals legislation in the European Union and its impact on children. We hoped to trigger discussions about hazardous chemicals in the EU, informing EU leaders about how they overlap with children’s rights, their effects and possible solutions.
How can the EU end the contamination of children in Europe and beyond?
We invite you to question what actions are needed to protect children from toxic chemicals within the EU. Institutions have power to shape the world around them. What reality will the EU create for children in the years to come?
